FIREARMS
Canadian law allows incoming hunters to bring rifles and/or shotguns
into Canada with a maximum of 200 rounds of ammunition. It is strictly illegal to attempt
to bring a handgun into Canada.
SERVICES PROVIDED
Transportation - Air transportation is provided from Anahim Lake for
those hunters arriving by air. Anahim Lake is serviced daily by Wilderness Airlines from
Vancouver, B.C. Transportation is provided from Anahim Lake for those who plan to drive.
LICENSES AND EXPORT PERMITS
All licenses are pre-purchased on the hunter's behalf prior to his
arrival to avoid the loss of any hunting time in that regard. Export permits for moose are
issued by the outfitter. Grizzly, black bear and wolf require export permits issued from
the Ministry of Environment office, available weekdays 9 to 5 only. If trophies are not
taken early enough in the hunt to obtain necessary permits while the hunter is still here,
trophies will be left with the outfitter and shipped later at the hunter's expense. The
outfitter will deliver capes, skins, and antlers to a local taxidermist, who will prepare
trophies and ship at the hunter's expense.
GUIDE SERVICE
All hunts are fully guided, with the option of one hunter per guide, or two
hunters per guide
(please see enclosed rate schedule).
TROPHY CARE
All caping and handling of trophies and meat is provided as part of the natural
course of our outfitting responsibilities.
SPRING AND FALL HUNTS
Due to the variable weather conditions, hunters should be prepared for
all extremes. Warm clothing for cold, wet weather is a must and so is light, warm weather
clothing for the warmer days. In the spring, temperatures may range from thirty to eighty
degrees F. In the fall, extremes may range from zero to 70 degrees F. with the
ever-present possibility of rain or snow in either season.
We urge hunters to avoid the use of nylon garments as they are extremely noisy in the
thick timber, making it impossible to move quietly. We stress that most of our hunting
opportunities are at very close range and the zipping, swishing sound of nylon can destroy
the opportunity of a lifetime. Wool is the best possible fabric for hunting, as it is
absolutely silent and maintains good insulative value even when wet.
