The Hunting Area:You will be hunting portions of the historic Flynn Ranch and several adjoining properties. The hunting property (Hunting districts 390 & 391) ranges in elevation from the valley floor at 4000 feet to 7,500 feet on the mountain peaks. The landscape changes with the elevation from juniper and sagebrush covered foothills to snow capped peaks overlooking mountain meadows surrounded by thickets of lodge pole pine and quaking aspens. |
The Wildlife:Elk, Mule deer, and Whitetail deer call this area home. You will have a legitimate opportunity to harvest a trophy bull elk. Hunting districts 390 and 391 have been regulated as "brow tine only" areas for many years. Due to this regulation and limited hunter access, the typical bull elk taken in our hunting area is now a five or six point. Since 1995, five bull elk in excess of 350-plus Boone & Crockett points have been taken on the hunting property. Mule deer and Whitetails frequent many of the same areas as the elk, so you should anticipate seeing several nice bucks during your hunt. There are also Upland Game bird and fly fishing opportunities on the ranch. Accommodations:During your six day hunt, you will alternate between staying at one of the modern Flynn Ranch homes in the valley and one of the three rustic cabins in the mountains. The exact determination of lodging will be made based on the assessment of game locations at the time - i.e. we will go where the elk are. |
